Dr. Islam Faris earned a PhD in Public Economic law from Alexandria University “Canadian Equivalency”, his study focused on PPPs in Comparative legal System, he has over 22 years of experience in different jurisdiction, worked as senior legal counsel with most prestigious organizations in the region including Government and leading law firms in the State of Qatar and MENA region, his practice area focused on Corporate, Commercial matters and Contract law, in addition to Cyber-Crime law. Dr. Faris has provided legal advice and guidance for various clients and multiple mega and complex projects based on relevant laws and international best practices. Also, he is familiar with laws and regulations of various vital sectors such as ICT, Sports, and Aviation sectors and is experienced in providing legal solutions to cross-border transactions concluded by international firms to protect interests and their activities in MENA region. His expertise extended to Fin-tech and AML regulations besides audit and compliance policies based on relevant national and international laws. Dr. Faris has prepared and drafted the authority’s legislative tools, such as bills related to Technology, telecommunications, Cyber Security, and Data Protection in addition to UAV regulations and E-Commerce Guidelines. Recently, he has published research and legal insights in the English language about Direct Foreign investments regulations and e-sports in the state of Qatar and beyond. In addition, Dr. Faris has a successful record in litigation and disputes resolution, handled many cases in Civil law, Commercial law, Cyber-Crime law, and M&A and IP matters. Besides, he was a key player in the leadership team to sign-off FIFA 2022 project with MOI Qatar and SC. Dr. Faris is fluent in French and English language, also, he is a member in many regional and international associations such as Membership of International Bar Association (IBA) in UK, International Association for cyber-crime prevention (IACP) in France and International association of Privacy Professionals(iapp) in USA.
