DR. ABDULRAHMAN SHARAFI

Dr. Sharafi earned his Ph.D. from the University of Khartoum with a dissertation titled “The Judge’s Discretionary Authority.” Dr. Abdulrahman Sharafi has fifty-one years of practical experience in a wide range of judicial roles, he has held numerous high-ranking judicial positions, most notably as President of the Court of Appeals and as a judge on the State Court of Cassation. 

 Dr. Sharafi has extensive experience in handling criminal, family, and inheritance cases as well as civil cases particularly compensation cases related to contractual obligations or tort liability-in addition to his expertise in resolving disputes through mediation and arbitration, as well as his distinction in the areas of procedural law in civil and commercial litigation, criminal procedure, and evidence. 

He has taught procedural law and evidence at several Sudanese universities in addition to his judicial work—and has participated in training courses in Sudan, Italy, and England. 

He has also presented in-depth research papers at numerous international conferences in Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Morocco, Libya, Qatar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Pakistan, and Nigeria. 

Dr. Sharafi has authored numerous published works, including: Conflict of Judicial Evidence; The Judge’s Discretionary Authority; Judicial Independence: Between the Islamic Perspective and the Sudanese Reality; Sharia Punishments in Sudanese Criminal Law Lessons from the “Revolution Massacre” Case Values and Traditions of the Judiciary, Judicial Conviction, Reasoning in Criminal Judgments, and many other published and unpublished works and research papers.
